Mzuzu based sports journalists in partnership with Innobuild Private Company Limited have not left any stone unturned in the fight against Covid-19 as they reached out to the Kaunjika section of Mzuzu City with protective gadgets.
The journalists through the event which was dubbed “Walk of the journalist to fight Covid-19” aimed at sensitizing the masses on the deadly Covid-19 pandemic.
In an interview with Akometsi, Chairperson for Covid-19 task force for Mzuzu based sports journalists, Draxon Maloya said together with Innobuild they wanted to clear the misconceptions surrounding the Covid-19 in the country.
“Some people believe that with the coming of hot weather, the pandemic has been defeated, so we thought of reaching out to the masses, informing them that the pandemic is still with us and that is why we have made the donation,” Said Maloya
On his part, Regional manager for Innobuild Private Company Limited in the north, Gift Nyasulu said they partnered with the journalists as major stakeholders in disseminating information to masses during this period.
“As a company, our major stakeholder is the general public, we thought it wise to partner with journalists on a couple of issues regarding the deadly pandemic,” Nyasulu said.
Chairperson for Kaunjika section in Mzuzu City market, Joshua Chinguwo commended the Journalists and Innobuild for the timely gesture as per day they interact with over 10 thousand people.
The Mzuzu based Sports journalists and Innobuild Private Company Limited donated over 500 face masks, hand washing soap, hand sanitizers and eight washing buckets to the market.
