Son to former President of the republic of Malawi Dr. Bakili Muluzi, Atupele Austin Muluzi has demanded President Lazarus Chakwera to furnish him with evidence on the allegations he made during his national address on Saturday that about 1.3 trillion kwacha amount of funds were looted during the previous regimes which were being led by Peter Muthalika.
Muluzi who also lead his Father’s founded United Democratic Front (UDF) which formed an alliance with the ousted Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) led by Peter Muthalika, demanded of the evidence through a Facebook post after going dark on social media since his last post on July 13th.
“Whilst I comment him for his stance against corruption however, we need full disclosure and evidence by the president as to how he was informed of such an alarming high figure,” reads his post in part.
The young Muluzi who is the ‘agenda for change’ architect, guaranteed his commitment to help the current leadership of Lazarus Chakwera with full support towards eradication of corruption in the country.
“It is (corruption) an evil scourge in our politics that needs to be eliminated,” he added.
A good number of his social media followers took his post with some grain of salt considering his allegiance to the former government in which he was mostly a part of, both as a minister and an eventual running mate in the last election.
