Ministry of agriculture has said there is a suspected outbreak of fish disease discovered at Dambo village in mchinji district.
According to the press release the disease called Epizootic Ulcerative syndrome is ahighly contagious disease that mostly affected fresh water fish
Which may result in massive fish mortalities.
The circural also indicatead that if this will not be controlled fast, it may not affect only commercial fish farmers but also the national GDP since there may be a ban on fish exports.
On another note, although consuming fish with the disease can not directly affect ones body but children and other vulnerable groups may suffer from diarrhea since bacteria can take advantages of the ulcers in the fish.
So far the diesese has spread to other water bodies in mchinji within Kasungu ADD.
