Two arrested, 13 motorcycles recovered in Mponela

Police in Mponela-Dowa have arrested two suspected hard-core criminals in connection to series of robberies/breaking offences and recovered thirteen motorcycles in the process.

The suspects have been identified as Gift Alick Phiri 37 from Kasapila Village, TA Kaphuka and Joseph Gulo 27, of Kandoza Village, TA Kaphuka both from Dedza.

They were arrested some weeks ago after being implicated in a case where some unknown culprits at Madisi Trading Centre broke into the house of Nellie Majawa 25, of Tayale Village, TA Bvumbwe in Thyolo and stole a motorcycle which is among those recovered.

Following their arrests, police have recovered twelve motorcycles which are believed to have been stolen from across the country.

Police recovered some of these properties from Mchinji, Lilongwe, Nkhotakota and Balaka where they were sold respectively.

Police is hopeful that cases of robberies and theft of motorcycles
will be subsided following their arrest.

Therefore the police would like to appeal to all people across the country whose motorcycle(s) were stolen to come to Mponela Police Station with relevant documents for identification.

Community members are further being encouraged to continue working with police inorder to create crime free environment.
