Three died, six injured in Salima fatal road accident

Three passengers have died while six others sustained various degrees of injuries following a road accident that involved a blue saloon Toyota Avanza motor vehicle, registration number BP5673, driven by an unknown driver along Nkhotakota Salima road at around 16:30.

All three dead passengers plus the six injured are still unidentified at this moment.

The driver of the motor vehicle is reported to have been coming from the direction of Nkhotakota heading towards Salima with eleven passengers on board. Upon arrival at Mbuna village in the area of TA Khombedza, he lost control of the vehicle due to over-speeding, swerved to the side of the road and overturned.

The nine unidentified casualties were rushed to Salima District Hospital. Two male passengers and one young female were pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital while the other six passengers remain in critical condition.

Meanwhile, police in Salima are appealing to the general public to report to their office any missing persons who might have been on this journey yesterday. The police is strongly appealing to all drivers to always observe speed limits because speed related accidents are still claiming a high number of lives on our roads.
