President Lazarus Chakwera has reinstated the firing of General Vincent Nundwe with immediate effect.
Chakwera said Nundwe’s redeployment as Commander of MDF is to reverse injustice to the whole military.
Meanwhile, the president says he will convene the military council to discuss appointment of new Deputy Commander.
Former president Peter Mutharika fired Nundwe months ago, a move that did not please many.
A majority argued the commander was chopped on political grounds as he was praised for being one brave MDF leader.
His bravado was seen during anti-government demonstrations that were led by the Human Right Defenders Coalition (HRDC), where MDF soldiers refused to be DPP puppets.
This earned Nundwe praise from many people, including neighboring countries where he was described as a true man for the people.
However, Mutharika fired him, replacing him with Mathanga.
