Parliamentary Public Appointment Committee has confirmed the appointment of Reserve Bank governor Wilson Tongani Banda. Akometsi.com can reveal.
Banda previously served as Senior Advisor to the Executive Director for Africa Group at the World Bank was appointed by President Chakwera to replace Dalitso Kabambe at the Central Bank.
Banda also worked at the Reserve Bank as General Manager for Economic Services, having previously worked as the Director of the Malawi Stock Exchange.
Banda has a PhD in Economics from the University of Manchester, an MPA from Harvard University and an M. Phil in Monetary Economics from the University of Glasgow.
Meanwhile, Acting Police IG Dr. Goerge Kainja passed the initial confirmation by PAC, however, the committee can only recommend him to parliament for official confirmation.
