Harold Hiya has been appointed as the new National Bank of Malawi’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Commercial Officer. The appointment is with effect from 1 October 2020.
National Bank of Malawi plc Chief Executive Officer Macfussy Kawawa said Mr Jiya’s leadership of the bank’s commercial function will take National Bank of Malawi to the next level.
Jiya expressed gratitude saying it is a great privilege to be part of the leadership of a business that has very rich history, wide reach and economic magnitude such as National Bank. Jiya said he is looking forward to working with the bank to further unlock the potential of the customers and exceed the expectations of shareholders and stakeholders.
Jiya has worked as the Head of cooperate banking with vast experience in International Trade, Asset Finance, Credit, Structured Finance, Corporate and Agriculture Lending. Until his appointment he was the Banks General Manager and Head wholesale Banking since 2016.
He is an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, UK and an alumnus of Oxford Advanced Management & Leadership program of Oxford University’s Said Business School.
He holds an MBA from Exeter University United Kingdom, and a BComm. Accountancy degree from the University of Malawi.
