Vice president of Malawi Dr. Saulos K. Chilima has given Blantyre water board a period of 30 days to resolve water problems in their catchment area.
Writing on his Facebook page, Chilima described the situation of going two days or a week without water as unacceptable.
“We have resolved and agreed that erratic water supply in Blantyre should be a thing of the past effective 2nd October, 2020. We have given management 30 days to fix the problem”, said Chilima
He further disclosed that the board will announce the development to ensure commitment that water problems will be contained within 30 days.
“Tonight or tomorrow, the board will issue a pressure statement committing the same to the residents of Blantyre that water supply will stabilize in 30 days from today”, added Chilima.
Water board has also been instructed to be updating the minister of Forestry and natural resources, Nancy Tembo on the progress every Tuesday before 2 October, 2020
