Government has refuted allegations being aired by some international media houses that President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera said he and his Vice Dr Saulos Chilima will renege on their promise of creating one million jobs since government employs 200, 000 people only.
According to the press statement signed by presidential press Secretary Brian Banda, the allegation is a misrepresentation of president Chakwera’s remarks because the President only explained how his administration will manage to create one million jobs.
“What the president said is that his administration’s effort to create jobs are not confined to the public sector, but also involve implementing deliberate polices and incentives to stimulate job creation in private sector. As such the President was clearly explaining how and where his administration will create one million jobs”, Stated the statement.
In addition to the squashing of the news, government has appealed to the general public to contact the statehouse communication department for clarity on issues to do with the president before disseminating information to avoid being conducts of fake news.
President Chakwera together with his vice Chilima held a press briefying on Monday 5 October, 2020 at the statehouse where they gave updates on how things have been in the 100 days of Tonse administration and the direction it is heading.
