The Citizen for Transformation (CFT) has rubbished self-acclaimed members who are spearheading an underground movement to topple Timothy Mtambo from the post of Commander in Chief.
In an interview, the self-acclaimed members spoke highly against the leadership of Timothy Mtambo who they deemed as partisan.
The rebellious grouping led by Vincent Mvula is of the view that the former Human Defenders coalition (HRDC) has lost relevance in CFT which is, according to Mvula, an apolitical organization.
“CFT is a political grouping that is though, not affiliated to any party. It’s for every Malawian. Our concern is, we feel like Mr. Mtambo has lost direction and he can’t lead us any longer. He is MCP,” fumed Mvula.
He added: “during the launch of CFT if you can remember. Mtambo said this grouping is for Malawians and anyone can take over from him. We think, this is the right time for him to step aside. We need someone who can lead us.”
Mvula who claimed that his rebellion and that of everyone in their grouping is not bent on jealousy or having any personal issues against Mtambo said someone serving a particular political organization cannot hold it accountable.
“It’s not that we’ve issues with him but, we feel like he can’t just hold president Chakwera and his government accountable. How could he? It’ll be biting the finger that feeds,” said Mvula.
Asked if they’ve consulted senior members in CFT, Mvula confirmed that they’ve had several engagements with all stakeholders in the grouping and plans are underway to reach a resolution on the issue.
Akometsi followed up the issue with the grouping’s leadership and established through provided evidence that Mvula is not on the list of CFT members in all regions.
In an interview, CFT director of Communications Justin Negrecious described Mvula and his grouping as attention seekers questing to entrepreneur in controversy.
“CFT does not have any person by the name Vincent Mvula in its records as a member,” said Justin.
He added: “CFT has well established structures at district and regional levels and we have a database of members in which the said Vincent Mvula does not appear.”
On claims that Mvula has engaged the CFT leadership several times, Justin dispels the speculations citing that nobody has ever discussed anything with anyone in the grouping to that effect.
“The CIC has not talked to anyone called Vincent Mvula, neither has he received any request for any audience with him or anyone in that regard,” said Justin.
“For avoidance of doubt, the so-called Vincent Mvula must be a desperate attention-seeker who is perhaps trying to think that he can entrepreneur in controversy,” added Justin.
