Church of Central African Presbyterian (CCAP) general assembly has reaffirmed their stand on the issue of legalisation of abortion saying it is against the Bible.
Speaking to the press, CCAP general assembly Moderator Reverend Bizwick Nkhoma said they will not change their stand regarding legalisation of abortion in Malawi even if the Parliament says so.
“It is clear that we will follow the word of God because our authority is derived from inspired word of God and we can not just follow it because it had been passed in parliament”, said Nkhoma.
Nkhoma explained that as a church, they will keep shedding light to their congregants about how bad it is to follow things that are contrary to the word of God.
“We will advise our Christians accordingly letting them know the consequences of breaking the law of God to satisfy the desires of the flesh”, added Nkhoma.
Parliament is yet to table pregnancy termination bill suggested by government to make safe abortion free and expand the grounds of procuring abortion.
