Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Tuesday, opened the registration period of teams in the CAF champions league and Confederation cup. The registration will close on 20 October.
Nyasa Big bullets was to make their third consecutive appearance in the CAF champions league as they emerged champions of the TNM super league last season.
Blue eagles also earlier expressed interest to participate in confederation cup after they finished on third position in the TNM super league and emerged champions in the FISD cup.
However, officials from both teams have expressed doubt on their participation in the continental soccer showcases.
The teams were quick to point out that covid 19 will contribute to their failure to register and prepare by 20 October in the tournaments since sports not resumed.
Speaking for Nyasa Big Bullets Albert Chigoga said “this program has come at a very bad time where the countries teams are dormant and most of the sponsors for the teams are struggling financially.”
Wisdom Nkhoma an official for Blue Eagles repeated similar sentiments as he observes that “we have seen the program, and we had aspirations to participate in the confederation cup … but we don’t seem to have viable sponsors within a short time.”
