The Blantyre City Council (BCC) has embarked on an exercise that will see all markets in the city disinfected.
This is aimed at fighting Covid-19, a deadly infection that is caused by Corona virus.
Spokesperson for the council Anthony Kasunda said so far, the exercise has happened in Limbe market.
“The action aims at fighting this deadly pandemic, and that we will disinfect all the markets in town,” explained Kasunda.
He said Covid-19 is real, and that the council has to do everything possible to protect people and combat it.
So far, Malawi has 1,920 active cases of the disease, with 100 deaths.
Blantyre is among the hardest hit districts countrywide, with rising cases.
