The Malawi immigration department and Malawi police embark on a sweeping exercise

The Ministry of Homeland security through the department of immigration and the police has embarked on a joint sweeping exercise in Lilongwe. The exercise is aimed at flushing out illegal immigrants in the city who are working and conducting businesses without proper permits.

Akometsi can reveal that over the past few days immigration and police invaded Sana Shop in area 2 where they arrested 5 foreigners of Asian origin. The foreigners had no work permits and one of them had no passport.

The officials also conducted the sweeping exercise in area 36 in a building that is occupied by Central Poultry and Universal Industries. At this place 10 foreigners were arrested on grounds that they did not have work permits.

Akometsi has also found that over 40 foreigners managed to escaped as the officials arrived Central Poultry and Universal Industries.
