Wikabs, a Food delivery app goes live online in Lilongwe

As the nation of Malawi and the rest of the world continue to re-adjust itself to the “new normal” due to covid-19 crisis, a Lilongwe-based IT company has developed an application that is being used for groceries and fast food deliveries.

The app is called Wikabs Food Delivery, and it is currently only operating in Lilongwe for the time being.

According to Hamid Wakili, founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company, the App has started functioning, and they have made a few KFC deliveries.

“The App offers a delivery service for groceries and fast foods as people can use it to order food from KFC, for example.”

Wakili also highlighted that the App can also be used to order groceries from Food Lovers Market and Shoprite.

When asked on how people can access and use the app, he explained to Akometsi that upon downloading and opening it, they will be able to see all the stores on and products.

“Once they select a store, they will see the items in the store, and if they want to place an order, they need to login using their phone number.”

He concluded by saying that after placing an order, they now need to enter their delivery address.

According to Wakili, the App’s development took him about 12 months to get fully developed. Wikabs app is available both on App store and Play store.

This is quite a recommendable development in such time as this where we a lot of alternatives in our daily routines to fight of this invisible enemy in our midst called Corona virus.

To those who can afford to have it, it is a recommendable option to consider as the nation continues in its effort to combat the virus. Prevention is better than cure. Stay home and stay safe. Observe all recommended prevention measures by the ministry of health.
