TNM’s Chief Executive Officer Michiel Buitelaar announced that the company has reduced data price for pay-as-you with 70 percent. He made the announcement on Friday in Lilongwe when the company launched it’s new 4G smartphone.
However, according to Zubeir Morta, one of the organizers of #DataMustFall online demos says this is not enough and means absolutely nothing because no one uses pay-as-you-go to surf the internet.
“We appreciate what they have done, but we cannot be fooled with that. No one goes on the internet using pay-as-you-go. We buy data bundles and we want a reduction on that. That is our focus,” he said.
Morta also said they are waiting to see how Airtel will respond to the issue.
“We are waiting to see how Airtel will react and after that we will see what next step to take,” said Morta.
Information Minister Gospel Kazako was on Thursday locked up in a serious meeting Airtel CEO from morning to lunch time over data issues. He has so far been commended on listening to people’s voices and acting decisively.
